The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) together with the University of Bremen (Germany) and experts from the Free Universities of Berlin (Germany) and the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom) are organising a joint training course on “Proposal Writing for International Research Projects”. The course is part of the DIES (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies) series of DAAD and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK). The first part will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The aim of the training course is to enable younger PhD holders (up to 45 years of age) to design, write, plan and budget a promising research proposal according to international standards. The Food Security Center (FSC) is a university center of excellence in development collaboration at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. FSC is one of five excellence centers of the program “exceed – Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation”, which is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. In 2011, FSC awards up to 29 scholarships for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for a period of 4 to 36 months. The Center wishes to attract outstanding PhD students and postdoctoral fellows pursuing a career in academia or development collaboration. Das Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht startet mit der Unterstützung der Volkswagenstiftung ein neues Stipendienprogramm für junge Rechtswissenschaftler aus den Staaten des Kaukasus und Mittelasiens. Im Im Rahmen eines neunmonatigen Aufenthalts am Institut forschen die teilnehmenden Wissenschaftler zu einem selbst gewählten Thema ihres Heimatrechts im Zivil- bzw. Wirtschaftsrecht, jeweils in rechtsvergleichender Perspektive. Ziel des Aufenthaltes in Hamburg ist es, den Stipendiaten einen Einblick in das westliche und insbesondere deutsche Recht zu verschaffen, ihnen die Teilnahme an internationalen Diskussionen und die Bildung von Netzwerken zu ermöglichen. Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) and the Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE), founded by the Volkswagen Foundation offer new Online Master "The EU and Central Asia in the International System". The programme is a response to the increasing connections between the European Union and Central Asia and the growing interest in the European Union. The curriculum is organised as a part time programme, that encompasses three study semesters with a maximum workload of 20 hours per week. It comprises online courses plus two compulsory presence phases in Berlin and Brussels with workshops, panel discussions and exams. The application process for the Online Master will be opened from now on until 15 June at the latest. The candidates will be chosen on the basis of their written e-mail application and of interviews in July in one or two Central Asian capitals. More

In Anbetracht der wachsenden Zahl an fachlichen Kooperationen mit deutschen Hochschulen wird Deutschunterricht an kirgisischen Universitäten zunehmend in fachbezogene Studiengänge integriert. Der DAAD bietet deshalb regelmäßige Fortbildungen für Deutschlehrer im Bereich Fachsprachen an. Der nächste Fachsprachenkurs findet vom 23. bis 28. August 2010 an der KGTU statt. Es handelt sich um die Fortsetzung des im Mai 2009 angebotenen Kurses, der aber auch neuen Teilnehmern offensteht. Als Zielgruppe tretten DeutschdozentInnen an Hochschulen auf, die entweder bereits Fachsprachen unterrichten oder planen, einen Fachsprachenkurs anzubieten. Die Anzahl der Teilnehmer ist auf 15 begrenzt. Der Kurs wird von Maria Steinmetz, DaF-Dozentin an der Technischen Universität Berlin geleitet.
